How we do this.
Buying a gemstone from halfway around the world asks for some trust. Here is how we try to earn it.
Start with the stone
Our loose gem program lets you choose the gem first and decide on the setting after. Some people know the stone long before they know the piece.
You see it before it is made
On anything custom, nothing is cut, set or charged in full until you have seen the stone and approved the design. If it is not right, we change it.
Small runs, never sold out
We buy what a workshop can make well, which is never very much. When a batch is gone you can still order the piece. The workshop makes the next run and it reaches you in about 3 to 4 weeks. We would rather say so than pretend it is on a shelf.
A real person answers
No ticket queue and no script. You are writing to the people who chose the piece, and we would just as happily talk you out of the wrong one as sell it to you.

An engagement ring, a stone you have been carrying around an idea for, something to mark an occasion. We will build it around a genuine Sri Lankan gem, and you will see every step before it is made.

Sri Lanka has been handing gems to the world for two thousand years. The island sits on a gem belt so rich that the town at its center, Ratnapura, translates to City of Gems, and the sapphires that come out of it have been called Ceylon sapphire for long enough that the name is now a quality standard rather than a postal address. Moonstone comes from further south, around Meetiyagoda, where the pits are hand dug and family owned.
That is the part most jewelry sites leave out. A stone is not just a color and a carat weight. It came from somewhere, somebody pulled it out of the ground, and somebody else decided how to cut it.

What to look for in a moonstone
Moonstone is graded mostly on adularescence, the sheen that floats across the surface as the stone moves. A soft silver-white sheen is the most abundant and the most affordable. Rainbow moonstone throws several colors at once and photographs beautifully. Blue sheen, a near-colorless body with an electric blue float, is the rarest and the most expensive. None of these is a better stone than the others, they are different effects at different prices, and we will always tell you plainly which one you are looking at.

Custom jewelry is built around a genuine Sri Lankan gem you choose yourself. You see real stone options before anything is decided, you approve the design before it goes to the bench, and the finished piece takes three to four weeks from final sign off. Engagement rings, anniversary pieces, a setting for a stone you already own, or something nobody has made before.
